This fairytale cottage is tucked away in a rainforest oasis and is a rare find where you can switch off and relax.

Located 15 minutes from Brunswick Heads and 30 minutes from Byron Bay’s beaches, spas, and shopping. You’re also near Burringbar Village with Elwood Cafe, a bottle store, and a grocer.

The Space

The one-bedroom cabin is warmly furnished and located in serene bush surroundings, with native wildlife; echidnas, possums, birds, butterflies, and dragonflies.

If it’s time to escape from real-world distractions then book a stay at this offline retreat from the online world, with no mobile, internet, TV, or phone reception. You can use the phone at the main house if needed and check your messages with their WIFI as you walk by.

The cabin is a great nature retreat and a writer’s or artist’s retreat, with a study and desk space.

Review: As you walk down the trail towards the cottage the forest canopy opens up to shine a light down onto this little gem. The sound of the bubbling creek is thoroughly relaxing. Sitting on the verandah and taking in the sights and sounds and just thinking about nothing.

Review: The cabin is clean, well designed, and set in stunning surroundings. Sunshine filters through the tall forest trees in the morning. A creek bends around the edge of the forest and at night the stars are thick.

FYI: The cottage is a 200-metre walk from the carpark through the gardens. The owners can help you with your luggage.

2. Breathtaking View from The Den of the Treehouse – The Pocket

Sleep in a treehouse high up in a regenerating park, called Kinabalu with a birds-eye view of the rainforest and ocean. You can even plant a tree to help with the conservation efforts.

For the adventurous, the property is 4WD only so you park and get picked up at the park entrance and experience a jungle safari to your private treetops cabana.

You’re off the beaten track so bring your supplies, e.g. all the food, drinks, and snacks you’ll need for your escape. Although a daily hot breakfast is provided.

Also come prepared with a flashlight, insect repellant, swimsuit, and a raincoat. You have access to walking tracks so bring hiking shoes so you can explore the bush and waterfall and swim in the creek.

The treehouse is open plan with 2 beds, a bathroom, a kitchen with a gas stove, and a deck.

3. The Hut Byron Bay Hinterland – Coorabell

This little one-bedroom cottage is a rustic refuge set on a coffee plantation with a good-sized communal swimming pool.

With views of the Nightcap Ranges, nature lovers will enjoy a walk through the coffee plants to the rainforest and a swim at the waterfall and creek. On your journey watch out for koalas, wallabies, echidnas, platypus, and abundant birdlife.

Your hosts make their own plantation coffee, Friday Hut Coffee, and delicious sourdough bread. Both of which you can try at the daily home-cooked breakfast on the deck.

Review: The tiny house was immaculate and the decor was so fitting. It had everything that I needed and the serenity was so amazing!! It’s a beautiful piece of paradise.

Review: Peaceful & private. Lots of extra touches……dressing gowns, slippers, chocolates and fruit.

Review: Beautiful property. Very clean. The animals were great! Right up at the door of your room.

The tiny house has contemporary rustic furnishings, a bedroom with a queen size bed, an en-suite, tea and coffee making, a fridge, and a toaster. Relax outdoors on the chair hammocks and warm up around the fire pit.
